Mussel Investigation

On Thursday we cut open some mussels to look inside of them.  We measured, weighed, researched and drew our mussels.  I learnt that this mussel is a green lipped mussel and that there are heaps of different kind of mussels.  We did this because we are going on camp to the Marlborough Sounds soon and we are going to be learning about marine life.

Scissors Explanation

Scissors are used for cutting paper and cutting out other stuff.  Scissors usually have plastic holes for your fingers to protect them from getting cut. They also have a sharp metal blade to cut the material. To use scissors you put your fingers in the holes.  your thumb goes in the top hole and your fingers go in the bottom hole. You open up the blades by spreading your fingers out. Then you place the piece of paper inside the blades of the scissors and close your hand. when you close your hand the paper will cut because the sharp side of the blade closes on the paper.
